Guram Aleksidze was born in 30 July 1939 in Telavi, Georgia. Since 2013 at Present President, Academy оf Agricultural Sciences оf Georgia; 2004 – 2013 Vice-President, Academy оf Agricultural Sciences оf Georgia;

1995-2004 Chief academician secretary, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Georgia;

1987-1995 Deputy director, Principal scientist — Plant Protection Institute (Tbilisi);

1983-1987 Chief agronomist, in Soviet Trade Mission in USA (Washington DC);

1974-1983 Deputy director and Head of the Entomology Department, Georgian plant Protection Institute (Tbi1isi);

1973-1974 Head оf the Department of New Methods in Plant Protection, Georgian Plant Protection Institute (Tbilisi);

1966-1973 Senior scientist, Institute of Horticulture Viticulture and Winemaking (Tbilisi);

His specializations main field: Integrated pest management systems, Agronomy, Ecology and Plant Genetic Resources.

He has several awards main is Orden of Honor, 1999

Head of Central Asia and Caucasus Association of Research Organizations (CACAARI), from 2015;

Member of the Steering Committee of Tropical Agriculture (TAP) at FAO, 2014-2015;

Member of the CGIAR Fund Council, 2014-2016;

Observer – Union of European Academies for Science Applied to Agriculture, Food and Nature from 2016;

Member оf the American Entomological and Phytopathological society 1983-1987;

Head of the Department of agriculture, “Encyclopedia”, Georgia;

Head of the Scientifical Council of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Professor Guram Aleksidze is a distinguished Georgian researcher in the field of Plant Protection. His scientific works are published in international scientific journals, among them in journals with impact factor.

Prof. Aleksidze is the author of more than 200 scientific papers: 17 books, more than 10 brochures and articles. Some of the most well-known publications of his works are: “Grape Pests” ( 1976); “Destructive Pests and Diseases of Plants and Control measures Against them” (2001); “Protection of Grape from Harmful Organisms” ( 2009); “Plant Protection”, which was published twice by European Union in 2014 and 2016; “Mathematical Modeling of Bio-systems and its Application in Integrated Protection of Citruses” (2015); “Georgian Agro-biodiversity”, (Catalogue, 2015); “Fruit Pests and their Natural Enemies” and etc. The works of Prof. Aleksidze are cited by many scholars and appear on reference lists of international publications.

For many years, Prof. Aleksidze has been carrying out active and productive work at international organizations, such as, CGIAR, CACAARI, FAO, ICARDA, CIMMYT, Bioversity Int. and other.

Among other important merits, Prof. Alekside’s long and fruitful pedagogical career at higher educational institutions of Georgia should be particularly emphasized.

About 20 doctorate dissertations have been prepared and defended under his supervision. His doctorate students, including international specialists, are now working successfully at scientific research centers in Georgia and abroad.

The scientific works of Prof. G. Aleksidze mainly deal with integrated protection of agricultural crops from harmful pests and diseases, such as vine, citruses, fruit, and other crops. He is the one who laid the foundation to contemporary scientific approaches to those problems in Georgian agricultural sciences. At present, scientific research is being carried out under the supervision of Prof. Aleksidze, which studies application of mathematical modeling system in mutual dependence of harmful and useful pests, which is widely spread in agrocenosis. This approach has opened a new page in plant protection and he is a pioneer in this direction not only in Georgia, but also at international level.

Prof. Aleksidze is a very resourceful scholar and public figure and he is involved in a wide range of social and international activities. He is Chairman of the  CACAARI Steering Committee ,  Head of Agrarian Commission of “Georgian Encyclopedia”, Vice – President of “Union of European Academies for Science Applied to Agriculture, Food and Nature”, and etc.  

Academician Guram Aleksidze as a distinguished, famous scientific and public figure has been rewarded with Order of Honor and other international awards.

 The Abstract should be presented in the following way;

 The Conference accepts only electronic version of the abstract;

 The speakers are required to submit their proposals through registration.


 Abstract should be submitted in English and Russian languages. For Georgian participants - in Georgian and English languages.

 Abstract size should not exceed 300 words, it must be A4 format, Font Size must be 11 point, in 1.0. line space, and justified. Margins must be left 3.00 cm, top 2.0 cm, bottom 2.0 cm, 2.0 cm right.

• The length of the scientific paper should not exceed 6 pages, A4 format, font size 11, line spacing 1.0; Margins: left-3.0 cm, Top- 2.0 cm, bottom- 2.0 cm, right -2.0 cm.

• Font for text in the Georgian language - AcadNusx, English and Russian language - Font Face must be Times New Roman;

• Tables, drawings, etc. in the TIFF format, 300 dpi; 600 dpi; formula – Microsoft equation 2.0

In case the author of the paper is not able to participate in the conference, the organizers will send the participant an electronic version of the conference proceedings;
